My Systematic Approach to Coaching

Focus, Balance & Purpose

Image

Step One - Control Your Focus

The first step is to pinpoint the key areas of your life that need consistent focus. While this varies for each individual based on their unique situation and goals, it typically includes relationships, health and fitness, personal and professional growth, and finances.

Image

Step Two - Achieve & Maintain Balance

Balance is essential for a happy and successful life. So the next step in my systematic approach is to support you in achieving and maintaining long-term balance in all aspects of your life.

Step Three - Identify & Live Your Purpose

Motivation is often short-lived. To create lasting change, you need to cultivate an internal drive that compels you to act, regardless of how you feel. This is achieved by not only identifying your purpose but also living with a sense of purpose every day.

Step Four - Mapping It All Out

Once you know what to focus on, achieve and maintain balance, and live with a sense of purpose every day, you will have a clear understanding of your position in life. The next step is to create your MAP (Massive Action Plan). Together, we will develop this plan to guide you from where you are to exactly where you want to be.

Discipline is the bridge

Discipline: The Silent Partner in Achieving Your Goals

June 21, 20243 min read

“Discipline is the bridge between your goals and achievement.” -

Jim Rohn

Today, I want to talk about something close to my heart and essential for anyone striving to turn their dreams into reality: discipline. Over my many years as a life coach, I've seen firsthand how discipline acts as the bridge between goals and accomplishments. It's not just about hard work; it's about consistency. Every small action, every daily habit—they all add up.

Think of discipline as your silent partner, always pushing you forward. Motivation may come and go, but discipline remains steadfast. It's the difference between dreaming and doing. Too often, we get caught up in the excitement of setting new goals, but without discipline, those goals remain mere fantasies.

Imagine you’ve set a goal to run a marathon. At first, you're full of enthusiasm. You buy the best running shoes, a flashy outfit, and perhaps even a smartwatch to track your progress. The first few days are exhilarating. But then, the early mornings start to feel tougher, the soreness sets in, and suddenly, your motivation wanes. This is where discipline steps in. It’s what gets you out of bed, laces up your shoes, and gets you out the door even when you don’t feel like it.

Every small action matters. Every time you choose to stick to your training plan instead of hitting the snooze button, you’re building discipline. Each decision to eat a healthy meal instead of junk food, each time you opt to read a book instead of watching television—these are the moments that define your discipline. They may seem insignificant in isolation, but together, they create a powerful momentum that propels you toward your goals.

I've seen countless clients transform their lives by embracing discipline. It's not about being perfect; it's about being persistent. Life will throw obstacles your way, and motivation will fluctuate, but discipline is unwavering. It’s your greatest ally in this journey.

Remember, discipline doesn’t mean depriving yourself of all joys or pleasures. It’s about balance and making choices that align with your long-term goals. It’s about understanding that every action has a consequence and making those choices deliberately.

So, next time you set a goal, remember that discipline is your greatest ally. Embrace it, nurture it, and let it guide you. Keep going, stay focused and stay strong.

Warm regards,

Patrick

Here are five steps to develop discipline:

  1. Set Clear Goals:

    • Define Your Objectives: Start by identifying what you want to achieve. Clear, specific goals give you a direction to focus your efforts.

    • Break Down Goals: Divide larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. This makes them less overwhelming and easier to tackle step by step.

  2. Create a Routine:

    • Establish Daily Habits: Consistency is key to building discipline. Create a daily schedule that includes specific times for work, exercise, relaxation, and other important activities.

    • Stick to Your Schedule: Adhering to your routine helps reinforce discipline by creating a sense of structure and accountability.

  3. Eliminate Distractions:

    • Identify Distractions: Recognize what often diverts your attention away from your tasks, such as social media, TV, or unnecessary interruptions.

    • Create a Productive Environment: Minimize these distractions by setting up a dedicated workspace, using apps to block distracting websites, or scheduling specific times for breaks and leisure activities.

  4. Build Self-Control:

    • Practice Delayed Gratification: Train yourself to resist immediate temptations in favor of long-term benefits. For example, avoid snacking between meals or choose to work on a project instead of watching TV.

    • Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward yourself for sticking to your tasks and following through with your commitments. This can help strengthen your self-control over time.

  5. Monitor and Reflect:

    • Track Your Progress: Keep a journal or use an app to monitor your daily activities, noting both successes and areas for improvement.

    • Reflect and Adjust: Regularly review your progress and adjust your strategies as needed. Reflecting on what works and what doesn’t can help you continuously improve your discipline.

Developing discipline is a gradual process that requires patience and persistence. By following these steps, you can build a strong foundation for achieving your goals and maintaining long-term success.

FAQS

What is life coaching, and how can it benefit me?

Life coaching is a collaborative and goal-oriented process that empowers individuals to unlock their potential and achieve their desired outcomes. Through a series of structured sessions, and my systematic approach I will work closely with you to identify your goals, address obstacles, and develop actionable strategies for success. Whether you seek personal growth, career advancement, better relationships, or improved well-being, life coaching can provide you with valuable tools and insights to overcome challenges and lead a more fulfilling life.

How long does a typical coaching program last, and how often are sessions scheduled?

The duration of your coaching program and the frequency of your sessions will vary based on your specific needs and goals. Generally, I recommend committing to a 30-day program where we will meet once a week for one hour via Zoom. Additionally, we will maintain regular contact through WhatsApp, SMS, phone, or email.

During these 30 days, we will:

Identify the key areas of your life that need focus

Establish a baseline of balance in your life

Develop a plan to help you live each day with a sense of purpose

After the initial 30 days, you can choose to continue our sessions on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. My coaching is flexible and can be tailored to your preferences and requirements.

What other coaching services do you provide?

In addition to being a certified life coach, I am also a certified executive and business coach. Please contact me directly with your specific requirements, and I will explain how I can support you or your business.
